Exhibition offers blast of 90s nostalgia
A free exhibition at Lichfield venue The Hub at St Mary’s offers a trip back in time to discover over 200 iconic objects and artworks that bring the Nineties to vivid life.
Revisit the days of Britpop and Cool Britannia, and discover the cultural treasures that 90s youth held dear - from the Spice Girls to Lara Croft, Power Rangers to Pokemon, Trainspotting to Teletubbies.
I Grew Up 90s looks at Nineties Britain through the lens of youth.
Visitors can expect to encounter beloved toys and video games, fashion, food, film and of course the music that defined the decade.
This exhibition has been curated by collector and cultural commentator Matt Fox and runs from April 5 until 27 June.
Matt Fox said: “Those who grew up 30 years ago in the 1990s - before smart phones, social media or reality TV - can genuinely state that life was very different then.
“Anyone that lived through them knows the 90s were a remarkable time to be young in Britain.
“We can revisit that through the objects, the images, the brands that stamped their iconography indelibly into our brains.
“Everything mint and preserved just as you remember it, providing a whiff of nostalgia more potent than Lynx Africa!
“This is not an exhibition for quiet contemplation - it’s one to visit for a fun trip with friends and family, and be ready to exclaim, ‘I remember that!”
This is a free exhibition and tickets are not required.
The exhibition will be open daily Tuesday to Friday, 9.30am to 4pm and Saturday from 9.30am to 3pm.
