Employers across the West Midlands are being offered a “masterclass” in Army leadership for junior and middle managers next month.

The leadership day – taking place at Venning Barracks in Telford from 9am to 4.30pm on Tuesday May 13 – is being organised by Birmingham University Officers Training Corps.

Major Darren Knight, Defence Relationship Manager with the West Midland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association, said: “Birmingham University Officers’ Training Corps are delivering an employer engagement event ‘Exercise Executive Leader’ to employers within the West Midlands area.

“Despite the title ‘Executive Leader’ which suggests senior leadership team level, this event is aimed at the junior to middle managerial level and aims to show how the Army ‘does’ Leadership.

“Participants will receive some leadership theory, conduct an exercise in strategic planning, then apply the leadership theory to a series of command tasks.”

Lunch is available with spaces limited. To register attendance, please email ASAP wm-ee@rfca.mod.uk by Friday, 02 May 2025.
