Feed My Creative CIC, a social enterprise with an aim to bring out the creativity in young people and adults, are aiming to donate 500 toiletry bags in support of vulnerable groups in Birmingham.

With funding from Birmingham City Council the initiative, called RE:PROJECT, has seen 126 packs donated to the Perry Barr constituency so far and a further 48 across wider Birmingham.

Feed My Creative strives to reduce waste and create more sustainable communities.

The enterprise works with young people to demonstrate how to make a range of repurposed bags made from settee covers to generate income and provide job opportunities.

The RE: PROJECT was originally created in 2019 and worked with two groups. Firstly, with young offenders to help with rehabilitation and secondly with survivors of domestic violence.

Janet Douglas, founder and CEO of Feed My Creative CIC said: “Providing this type of support to vulnerable young men and women, families, low-income families and those affected by domestic abuse has meant that they can use their funds to go towards other necessary items/services.

“As the toiletry bags are also made by hand, this becomes a sustainable gift that has an additional amount of love and care put into each pack.

“I'm a firm believer that just because your circumstances have changed, it shouldn't mean you cannot have access to quality products. It is really important to know that what we do at Feed My Creative is so much more than just sewing and workshops ”.

In support of the cause, Feed My Creative CIC has received donations from big brands including IKEA Wednesbury who has donated sofa covers, bedding and surplus fabric which the charity has been able to use to make toiletry bags.

Donations of shampoo and conditioner have also come from Palmers, as well as heavily discounted sanitary products from Here We Flo.

Feed My Creative is asking businesses to support Birmingham 's vulnerable groups by donating here.

Companies or individuals can further support the project by donating toiletries and surplus fabric to the charity. If interested, get in touch by emailing info@feedmycreative.com.
