Forward Education Trust (FET), a Birmingham-based group of Academies dedicated to providing exceptional education for children with high needs, is celebrating two significant achievements this year.

After receiving a ‘Requires Improvement’ rating in the past, Hallmoor School in Kitts Green has secured a "Good" rating from Ofsted in January.

This accomplishment reflects the unwavering commitment of both the school and FET to providing excellent leadership and support for students.

The Ofsted report commended Hallmoor's strong sense of community, saying: "This is a community focused on helping young people find their voices and their place in modern-day Birmingham."

The report further acknowledges the school's dedication to fostering each student's individual needs, highlighting its positive and supportive environment.

Headteacher Paul Donkersloot said: "This is fantastic news for Hallmoor School.

"We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and engaged students who have all played a crucial role in this achievement."

Simon Dilkes, Chief Executive of FET said: “This brings to fruition years of hard work, but for us, this is not a destination.

“It’s part of our journey for excellence across all phases of Hallmoor School”.  Hallmoor educates children from 4 to 19 years and is building a strong reputation and expertise for children with autism and other associated special educational needs.”

Meanwhile, Brays School in Sheldon received the Editor's Choice Award at the Music & Drama Education Awards. This recognition celebrates the school's innovative ‘Creative Space’ program, a central element of its thematic curriculum.

Brays School's Headteacher Kari Anson said: "We're incredibly proud to have been recognised for The Creative Space.

"This space serves as the heart of our curriculum, transforming its focus every half-term to immerse students in the chosen theme and spark their imaginations."

The Creative Space offers a unique learning experience through weekly workshops that nurture creativity and develop theatrical skills. Throughout their time at Brays School, students have the opportunity to participate in up to 200 unique workshops, fostering a love for drama and self-expression.

Harry Dawes, who leads on the creative space with colleagues in school said: "What a

fantastic achievement for everyone involved! From the first thoughts in 2009 to the ongoing program today, this award recognizes the dedication of countless individuals."
