Drama students wow with Berkovian performances
Drama students at Solihull Sixth Form College wowed friends and family with a showcase of Berkovian theatre just before half-term.
Year 12 Drama students broke into four groups and while two groups performed extracts from Steven Berkoff's "The Trial", the other two took on Berkoff 's "Metamorphosis".
These performances formed part of the A level Drama course, in which students explore three contrasting plays from three different contexts that will not only enable students to widen their repertoire of theatre but to challenge them. This term, students have been learning about Berkoff's surrealist style of theatre and exploring ways to communicate meaning through the actor's body.
Drama teacher Nadia Kouhi said: “We 're so pleased we were able to have an audience back in our theatre once again, following Covid restrictions last year. The students worked incredibly hard to bring to life some of Steven Berkoff's finest work. They produced wonderful performances that were visually so striking and I 'm proud of what they achieved. ”
