Disability Resource Centre partners with innovation centre to offer one-off event
Disability Resource Centre (DRC) have announced a partnership with Blythe Valley Innovation Centre (BVIC) for a one-off event, focusing on disability in the workplace, across Solihull.
On Thursday, 20 of February, DRC & BVIC are inviting business professionals from across Solihull to attend this one-off event, discussing the Disability Confident Scheme and how to make your business more inclusive.
With limited places available, the event will provide attendees with the chance to learn about the scheme and how it will benefit their business, as well as the support offered to businesses across Solihull from the Council’s Employment & Skills team.
The Disability Confident Scheme is a national scheme to encourage employers to recruit, retain, and develop people with disabilities or long-term health conditions. This benefits businesses by improving access to jobs, staff retention and workforce development whilst enhancing the brand image of the business.
There are three levels of the Disability Confident scheme; Committed, Employer and Leader. DRC are working with Solihull Council’s Employment & Skills team to support businesses to achieve the levels as part of this offer part-funded by UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Laura-May Jennings, senior employment officer at the Disability Resource Centre, said: “We are really looking forward to bringing together likeminded business professionals from across Solihull, to discuss disability in the workplace and how we can support them.”
Blythe Valley Innovation Centre, owned by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) and managed on their behalf by the University of Warwick Science Park, is a high-quality managed office building committed to delivering to the needs of small businesses in and around the Solihull region.
With a focus on innovation and tech led business, supported by the resources of both SMBC and UWSP, tenants of BVIC can benefit from flexible, supportive facilities, developed with the needs of growing businesses in mind.
The centre hosts a regular calendar of events and is committed to the support of collaborative and community-based activities, delivering added value to its tenant customers. The partnership of BVIC with DRC is a natural extension of these efforts and the centre is looking forward to hosting an engaging and invaluable event.
The event starts at 1pm, with an opportunity to network with the other professionals in attendance at the end.
