There is just a fortnight to go until Birmingham Tech Week – and Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce is preparing to host a fringe event exploring the themes of AI and digital.

Delivered in partnership with HSBC, the AI and Digital Decoded event on 22 October will assess what the latest developments in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology mean for SMEs.

Experts from HSBC, KPMG, Birmingham City University and Oxbridge Home Learning will be speaking at the event, which is taking place at a Birmingham city centre venue from 9am to 11am.

The guest experts are:

  • Gareth Evans, HSBC’s head of strategic partnerships UK commercial banking, HSBC, who will be sharing insights on trends among HSBC UK customers on AI and digital transformation
  • Bharat Bhushan, partner and chief technology officer for Financial Services at KPMG, who will give an overview of key developments from an advisory perspective
  • Dr Edlira Vakaj, associate professor of Neuro-Symbolic AI, Academic Lead for Research, Innovation and Enterprise at the College of Computing, Birmingham City University, who is outlining the role of KTPs in supporting AI & digitalisation alongside observations from her research.
  • Matt Jones, founder of Oxbridge Home Learning, who will provide a case study of how his business has embraced AI and digital tech

After quickfire presentations, the guest experts will take part in roundtable discussions with delegates, giving them the opportunity to tap into their expertise regarding and questions, opportunities and challenges.

Henrietta Brealey (pictured), chief executive of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “Birmingham is now well recognised as a significant tech hub.

“There’s over 2,000 tech startups and more than 6,000 tech businesses here in the city, and growing fast.

“Birmingham Tech Week, now the UK’s largest regional tech festival, has played a huge role in connecting, developing and amplifying the sector in the region.

“At the GBCC, we’re proud to support it and join the organisers, TechWM, in banging the drum for the region.

“We’re also keen to use our role as a major convenor of the business community to support non-tech businesses in accessing the opportunities this vibrant sector has to offer too.

“With AI & Digital Decoded, a Birmingham Tech Week fringe event, we’re offering members an exclusive opportunity to hear from experts and SME case studies alike what the latest advances in tech really mean for SMEs, and discuss the questions, challenges and opportunities ahead for their business.”

Venue details will be confirmed on RSVP. For security purposes, delegates must register in advance to be able to access this event.
