Young business professionals across Tamworth are being encouraged to apply for a free 12-month membership to Future Faces Chamber of Commerce.

Tamworth Borough Council have linked with Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce’s young professional division to sponsor 10 places across the Tamworth area.

These free places are aimed at young professionals within local businesses, offering professional development, the opportunity to network, and be recognised for their talent across Greater Birmingham.

Future Faces, a division of the wider Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce group, counts over 500 people as members and exists to support employees aged between 18 and 35 in their ongoing professional development and to grow their networks with a range of events, awards, online tutorials and mentoring programmes.

Tamworth Borough Council supported a similar link-up prior to the Covid-19 pandemic and historically engagement with young people in business in the Tamworth area.

Various Tamworth organisations such as Pure Cloud Solutions, Euro Car Parts, KEP Print and Adams Moore Accountants have had staff represented among the Future Faces network over the past few years.

The ongoing development in the town centre with South Staffordshire College moving their site into Market Square in 2025 was another reason for the planned support.

Councillor Andrew Cooper (pictured), interim portfolio holder for Town Centre and Assets, at Tamworth Borough Council, said: “Future Faces is an excellent opportunity for diverse, talented, young professionals to expand their skills and knowledge within a programme that offers professional support and a strong network of business contacts.

“Tamworth has 10 FREE places to offer individuals that are looking to take advantage of this amazing membership. Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce have created this annual membership to help network, develop and recognise young professionals across all sectors.”

Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber president, Fiona Rouse, Operations Director at PI-KEM, wished to thank the support of the council for offering the opportunity to young people in Tamworth.

She said: “It’s fantastic that the team at Tamworth Borough Council see the benefit of offering this support to our local business community.

“As a business owner myself, based in our town, who has put many of our young employees through the Future Faces programme in recent years, I can absolutely see the benefit of encouraging the next leaders in your business to get out, meet their peers, learn from senior figures across the business community and learn skills that will hold them in good stead as their careers progress.”

Sophie Poduval-Morrell, Future Faces manager, said: “Our division of the Chamber is open to any young person working in business from anywhere in Greater Birmingham and the support of Tamworth Borough Council will be a huge help in further promoting the opportunities we offer throughout Staffordshire.

“In the last 12 months we have seen a marked increase in members from the Staffordshire area join.

“We have welcomed Adam Gadbsy, an operations manager working in Tamworth at PI-KEM onto our executive committee, while we have hosted quarterly events in Lichfield, Tamworth, Burntwood and Burton to support young professionals. I look forward to meeting the new cohort.”

Businesses looking to apply for a place must be located in Tamworth district. A maximum of two place per business are  available.

Apply now via the online application form.

Closing date for applications is Friday 22 March, 2024.
