Birmingham Community Lottery is celebrating six months of fundraising which has secured £20,000 since their launch.

More than 150  good causes across Birmingham have begun fundraising, making a tangible difference in the lives of Birmingham's citizens and communities they support.

With tickets priced at just £1 each, the lottery provides an affordable way for individuals to support good causes and charities across Birmingham, with the additional incentive of winning cash prizes of up to £25,000 in the weekly draw.

At least 60 per cent of ticket sales goes to supporting good causes where players can select the charity or cause they wish to support.

These include everything from youth initiatives, mental health charities, arts projects and community parks to friend groups.

Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens is just one of the causes fundraising with the Lottery.

General manager, Glynis Powell, said "We are a tiny trust with a big responsibility to look after and share a unique green and historic space in east Birmingham. Although we welcome in thousands of people every year and run hundreds of activities and events, we receive no regular funding.

“Birmingham Community Lottery is such a great idea! Our supporters like to act locally and with this Lottery they can guarantee that their ticket purchase is a real investment, directly to us AND they get a good chance of winning something back too."

BVSC chief executive, Brian Carr, said: “We are delighted to be working with local partners and Gatherwell to establish a community lottery for Birmingham.

“This is a great opportunity for local community groups to raise their profile, boost their income, and actively connect with local people.

“City residents will be able to support their chosen good causes in a fun and cost-effective way, with the added bonus of being in with a chance of winning a prize.

“It’s going to be an easy, enjoyable way for anyone to make a real difference in Birmingham.“

By supporting the Lottery, city businesses can make a massive difference to the lives of individuals and communities living in Birmingham.
