Media and IT learners at Solihull Sixth Form College participated in the Royal Television Society (RTS) Midlands Careers Fair at The Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) this week.

The event provided a unique opportunity for aspiring media professionals to engage with key players from the UK’s television and film industry. Throughout the day, sixth formers connected with leading organisations, including ITV, BBC, and other prominent figures in the film and TV sectors.

A highlight of the event was the Create Central Production Pass Roadshow, a dynamic session offering learners an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the film and television production landscape in the Midlands. The session featured presentations from Crew Birmingham, Filming in England, and the Royal Television Society, all providing insights into local production opportunities and emerging trends in the region.

Curriculum leader for Media and IT, Rasbinder Gill, said: "The event provided invaluable guidance on career paths and practical strategies for breaking into the industry. The connections made will be instrumental to our young people in shaping their ambitions and supporting their journey toward successful careers in the creative industries."

Year 13 BTEC Creative Digital Media Production learner Zoe Leek added: "I found the trip very informative and interesting. It definitely helped give me a better insight into the industry and it piqued my interest. It was inspiring."

To learn more about the courses on offer at Solihull Sixth Form College, including A levels in Media, Film and Computer Science and BTECs in Creative Digital Media Production and IT, prospective learners and their families are invited to attend Solihull Sixth Form College Open Day on Saturday 19 October.
