Cocktail masterclass to mix business and pleasure for children’s hospice
A special evening of cocktails, celebration and networking will be bringing together leaders from the local business community to raise awareness of Acorns Children’s Hospice this week.
A one-hour masterclass in making cocktails with expert mixologists, paired with mouth-watering food platters will be held tomorrow (Thursday) to say thanks to supporters and introduce new partners to the vital difference they can make to the children and families cared for by Acorns.
The event will be held at Bodega Cantina in Birmingham and attendees can look forward to early Christmas celebrations while mixing business with pleasure.
Sian Timmins, corporate partnerships manager at Acorns Children’s Hospice, said: “Not only is this the perfect opportunity to make important and lasting contacts, you’ll be helping seriously ill children with life limiting and life threatening conditions and to support their families.
“Help can’t wait for those families especially at Christmas and by raising awareness in the local business community we can help create a brilliant yet meaningful event to make a positive impact during the festive season.”
Matt Jones, Acorns business ambassador, Philanthropy board member, and managing director of Oxbridge, said: “Christmas is a time of year to reflect and also to celebrate. It’s a tough time for hospices in the UK at the moment so anything we can do to support Acorns Children’s Hospice goes a long way.
“It’s great to support this local gem, and also a superbly hospitable local venue in Bodega Cantina. I gain a lot from these events, and it is great to meet like-minded people who share my values.
“While the event will be jolly, the cause is serious, so everyone’s support would be greatly appreciated, and who knows, we might learn a thing or two. I look forward to seeing you on the evening.”
Jamil Shabir, Acorns business ambassador and CEO of Bootcamp Media, said: “Acorns events never fail to create a vibrant atmosphere where businesses and individuals can connect while supporting such a meaningful cause.
“The Christmas cocktail masterclass at Bodega is a fantastic example of festive networking at its best. As an Ambassador, I’m thrilled to be part of these initiatives that combine holiday cheer with a powerful impact on our community.”
Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for babies, children and young people with life limiting and life-threatening conditions, and support that allows their families to make the most of each precious moment.
In the past year, the charity has cared for more than 780 children across the West Midlands, and supported over 1,000 families, including those who are bereaved.
This vital gift of care and support is provided from Acorns three hospices, based in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, and in the community.
Acorns needs around £35,000 each day to provide its children’s hospice care, with two thirds of that amount coming from generous donations and fundraising by the local community.
