Visitors to Lichfield Cathedral are once again set to be dazzled with a spectacular Christmas Light Show.

Working alongside the team at Illuminos, this year’s light show is themed with the 12 Days of Christmas in mind.

The Light Show runs from 16 to 22 December from 5.30pm.

Beginning at the Dam Street entrance to the Cathedral Close, the show begins with lights projected on to the former Bishop’s Palace, then on to the show-stopping West Front show.

Ticket holders then continue inside the Cathedral where local choirs will be singing popular carols - and there is a chance to visit the ever-popular Christmas Tree Festival.

Dean of Lichfield, The Right Revd Jan McFarlane, said: “We love welcoming everyone to the Cathedral and the Christmas light show is one one of the highlights of the year.

“In all the busyness of the run up to Christmas we hope that the Light Show gives us all a time to pause and to be inspired and encouraged – and to remember the story of Jesus, whose birth lies at the very heart of our celebrations.”

Along the journey, both inside and outside the cathedral, will be a 12 Days of Christmas trail to follow, exploring the meaning behind each of the 12 days and giving visitors an opportunity to reflect and make pledges into the coming year.

New for 2024 are ‘Relaxed Sessions’ on 19 December, where provision has been made for those who would benefit from a more relaxed and supportive experience with fewer people and a quieter soundtrack.

These relaxed sessions will be outdoor only and come at a reduced ticket price.

Tickets start at £10 for the Christmas Light Show and £5 for Relaxed Sessions.

Tickets can be found on Lichfield Cathedral website.
