Chasetown FC delivered a sensational performance to lift the Staffordshire Senior Challenge Cup, triumphing 4-1 over Rushall Olympic at the BET365 Stadium.

The victory was marked by a hat-trick from Joey Butlin and a well-earned goal by George Cater, showcasing the passion, resilience, and quality that defines the team.

The match began with Rushall showing early intent, winning a free kick that ultimately drifted over the crossbar.

They continued to control possession in the opening exchanges, but it was Chasetown who carved out the first real moment of magic.

A through-ball from Langston nearly unlocked the defence, only for a crucial deflection to deny Chimenes a clear opportunity.

Momentum shifted as Cater was brought down on the right flank, earning a free kick. Langston delivered a teasing ball to the back post, where O’Callaghan’s powerful header was well saved by Rushall keeper Moloney.

Chasetown continued to push forward, and another foul on Cater just outside the box resulted in a red card for Rushall—changing the course of the game.

Despite being reduced to ten men, Rushall struck first through Williams, capitalising on a defensive error. But their lead was short-lived.

Chasetown’s response was swift and clinical. Cater whipped in a low cross that Butlin calmly finished to equalise.

Moments later, Hayward lofted a precise delivery into the box, where Butlin doubled his tally to give Chasetown the lead before halftime.

The second half was all about The Scholars. Cater came close early on, and the relentless pressure paid off when Butlin completed his hat-trick with a composed finish, lifting the ball over both defenders and the goalkeeper.

Langston, a standout in midfield, continued to dictate the tempo, before Cater capped off a memorable night with a powerful strike that sealed the 4-1 victory.

Peter Bailey, general manager of Chasetown Football Club, saif: “It was a brilliant reminder of what football at this level is all about—community, passion, and togetherness.

“To see nearly 700 fans, the majority backing Chasetown, turn out on a midweek evening was incredible.

“We’re proud of the performance on the pitch and equally proud of everything this club represents off it. The trophy is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved—players, staff, volunteers, and supporters alike. And with the play-offs on the horizon, the belief across the club is stronger than ever. Up the Chase!”
