Birmingham-based charity Cherished was celebrated at the Birmingham Hippodrome recently, as they received the Kings Award for Voluntary Service – an MBE for charities.

The Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands handed over the beautiful crystal plaque and certificate to CEO Hannah Simnett and chairman Russell Hardy, whilst staff and supporters cheered and clapped at the heart-warming celebration of local charities.

Birmingham City Mayor also offered his congratulations to Cherished, a charity which supports children and young people from the region to deal with emotional trauma, providing an environment where they can feel safe, seen, soothed, and secure.

Hannah Simnett, CEO  and founder of Cherished, said: “We are so proud to have received the Kings Award for voluntary service! Never did I imagine when I founded Cherished in my late teens that we would one day receive such recognition. We care passionately about making a difference to the lives of those impacted by childhood trauma and believe that every child deserves to feel safe, seen, soothed and secure.”

Last year Cherished supported more than 1500 children and young people in the West Midlands. See the website for services and donations.
