Cannock Chase Chamber of Commerce’s chosen charity the Mel Evans MBE Foundation has announced the new date for its Marked Entertainer Gala Dinner.

It will now take place on Saturday, 18 October at Edgbaston Stadium. The Mel Evans MBE foundation honours the legacy of Mel Evans MBE, a champion Crown Green Bowler responsible for bringing the sport to TV with more than 100 caps for Staffordshire County.

The aim of the foundation is to spread awareness of MND while organising dedicated bowling events to raise funds for research and promote Crown Green Bowls at a grassroot level.

The highlight of the event is set to be The Masked Entertainer performances, where all profits will be used into treatments for motor neurone disease.

Throughout the evening guests will witness several well-known celebrities, disguised in amazing costumes, battle to be crowned best performer.

During each round of performances, guests will choose their favourite entertainer. At the end of each round, the person with the lowest votes will be revealed and eliminated.

The most highly rated performer at the end will be crowned the winner!

The event will be also attended by a host of celebrities who will be masked entertainers including former cricketer Phil Tufnell, Christopher Biggins, Amanda Barrie, Daniel Brocklebank, and Peter Ash.

The special guest of the event will be professional footballer, Marcus Stewart.

Before being diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2022, Marcus played over 500 games and scored over 250 goals in his professional career.

He had notable spells in the Premier League for Ipswich Town and Sunderland, as well as playing for Bristol Rovers, Huddersfield Town and Exeter Town.

Guests will be treated to a three course meal with a live musical performance by Chelsea Radford.

Tickers are priced at £99 while VIP tickets are priced at £149, which includes prime seating, a photo opportunity with the entertainers, and a free gift.

Founder of the charity and Mel’s wife Lynn Pritchatt said: “We first staged the Masked Entertainer Fundraising Dinner in 2023, with the late, great Rob Burrow and his family in attendance.

“The look on Rob’s face when one of his former Leeds Rhinos teammates was unmasked is an image I will never forget.

“Following the incredible success of that event, the Mel Evans MBE Foundation is bringing a star-studded line-up to the great city of Birmingham.

“We are thrilled to welcome two former Kings of the Jungle—England cricket star and former BBC Question of Sport captain Phil Tufnell, alongside legendary entertainer Christopher Biggins.

“Adding even more excitement to the evening, we will be joined by the glamorous Amanda Barrie and two outstanding actors who portrayed the powerful MND storyline on Coronation Street—Daniel Brocklebank and Peter Ash.

“With a judging panel to rival Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross, this promises to be an unforgettable event!

“Whether you're planning a work night out or an evening with family and friends, this will be a fantastic night for everyone.”
