Members of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) are being invited to an advanced manufacturing roundtable lunch, hosted by Flanders Make and Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT).

This event aims to foster collaboration and partnerships between Flanders Make and UK-based organisations in the fields of digitalisation, AI, robotics, automotive, aviation materials, batteries, and electrification.

It is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 19 at Hotel Du Vin.

The focus will be on promoting long-lasting developments and addressing challenges in moving towards Industry 4.0 and 5.0, while positioning Flanders as a collaborative hub.

The event will commence with an introduction to Flanders Make, featuring insights from their CEO, Grisja Lobbestael, and CTO, Koen Maertens. This will be followed by discussions on Flanders Make’s roadmap, exploring potential partnerships with participating companies, and re-engaging with European research organisations post-Brexit.

A networking lunch will provide an opportunity to connect with industry peers, including medium to large manufacturing companies and key stakeholders.

Key Participants include Flanders Make, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), and Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC).

The roundtable lunch is targeted at companies in the manufacturing, automotive, aviation, and battery sectors. The event is open to SMEs (50 or more employees), mid-caps, and large groups/multinationals.

The primary objective of this event is to showcase advanced manufacturing excellence, explore synergies, and highlight future opportunities for Flemish-British collaboration and growth in the post-Brexit landscape. By bringing together key players from both regions, the event aims to foster long-lasting partnerships and drive innovation in the industry.

Speaking about the event, Flanders Make’s CEO, Grisja Lobbestael said: “Flanders Make is constantly expanding its network of partners in Europe and we’re looking forward to co-hosting a collaborative lunch meeting in Birmingham.

“The UK R&D ecosystem is known as one of the most innovative and we’re eager to explore concrete collaboration opportunities, such as Horizon Europe projects, within the advanced manufacturing sector in a post-Brexit landscape.”
