Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce’s Quarterly Business Report survey for Q4 has launched – with the chance to win afternoon tea for two at a top hospitality destination.

The report, sponsored by Birmingham City University, is the most comprehensive of its kind in the city-region, offering an up-to-date snapshot of the performance of the Greater Birmingham business community.

Respondents to the latest survey will be entered into a prize draw to win afternoon tea for two at Lea Marston Hotel near Sutton Coldfield (terms and conditions apply).

As well as gathering the usual data on key indicators such as sales, exports, investment intentions and the workforce, the survey includes questions to contribute to the research for the Business Commission West Midlands (BCWM).

The Commission comprises leaders in enterprise, supported by expert advisors, who will forensically examine the opportunities for regional business and identify the action needed to seize them.

The BCWM questions in the quarterly survey will allow participants to contribute to the mass engagement and research programme aimed at giving a meaningful voice to the regional business community.

Survey data will be collated at a national level and will feed into policy and lobbying activity for both GBCC and the British Chambers of Commerce, reaching institutions such as the Government and the Bank of England.

On average, the survey takes less than five minutes to complete.

Raj Kandola, the GBCC’s director of external affairs, said: “The results from last quarter 's survey showed that recruitment difficulties remain a significant challenge in all sectors, but especially for manufacturers.

“Furthermore, there has been a fall in the number of businesses seeing an increase in cashflow, which has meant that many are now taking a more conservative approach to their investment plans. It is encouraging to see, however, that concerns about interest rates and inflation are beginning to ease”.

“As we continue to work through a challenging economic climate both locally and nationally, it’s vital that we hear from as many firms as possible so we can properly assess the impact these political and economic developments are having on the local business landscape.

“The results of this survey form the basis of our Quarterly Business Report publication which we use inform decision makers and stakeholders across the region.

“Our findings are also shared with key Government contacts at the Treasury, BEIS and the Bank of England, so your response will have a direct impact on Government policy at the highest level.

“We want to hear from start-ups to multinationals - respondents don't need to be a CEO or director to take part, just to have an understanding of how their business is performing.”
