Chamber launches new importing course
Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce has launched a new importing course dedicated solely to special procedures, including a detailed overview of inward and outward processing, benefiting many companies handling imports.
Previously, the session was a full-day course that covered the entire importing process as well as IP & OP.
Now, the course has been split into two focused sessions.
This new format allows attendees and the experienced trainer to delve deeply into best practices for accurate shipments and compliance with HMRC regulations.
The course is suitable for those working in an import role or those looking to begin IP & OP processing and seeking guidance on how to comply with customs regulations.
Chamber training manager Leah Quarmby (pictured) said: “Inward processing allows goods to be imported into the UK for processing without paying any duty or tax, for example, if the goods are being repaired or altered.
“Outward processing (previously known as Outward Processing Relief or OPR) permits the temporary export of EU goods to be processed in a non-EU country.
“Upon re-entry into free circulation in the EU, customs duty is only payable on the value added in the non-EU country.
“When consulting with customers about new training topics they would like to see from the Chamber, the need for a more detailed understanding of both IP and OP emerged, as well as the need for clarity on customs procedures.”
This session has been restructured to concentrate on these topics and provide greater clarity.
Topics include:
- Inward Processing overview
- Outward Processing overview
- Customs Duties
- Tariff Commodity Codes
- Custom Procedure Codes
- Single Administrative Document
- UK Customs Code
