The Armed Forced Week is a national event to honour the Armed Forced community from 24 to 29 June.

It is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets.

The week also includes Reserves Day, happening on 26 June, which provides the country with an opportunity to recognise Reserve Forces.

The celebrations end with Armed Forces Day, happening annually on the last Saturday of June where public show their support and appreciation for the Armed Forces community.

As a signee of the Armed Forces Covenant, GBCC will feature content from members and exclusive interviews with current and former military personnel to highlight ways that businesses can get involved in supporting the Armed Forces.

Interviewees include Royal Marines Lance Corporal and City of Birmingham Rockets basketball star Jordan Dawes, retired army major and leader of Staffordshire County Council Alan Whit and former Royal Navy officer and Pertemps’ Armed Forces liaison co-ordinator Jacob Welsh.

The Armed Forces Covenant was introduced by the Ministry of Defence in 2014 and is used across the country for businesses to pledge their support to the armed forces family.

Organisations who hold a Covenant recognise the value serving personnel - both regular and reserve - veterans and military families contribute to their business and the country.

The Chamber is proud to support the work of the forces through our relationship with patrons West Midland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association.

Speaking about the Armed Forces Week, GBCC patron manager Jason Simpson said: “We are incredibly proud to be a signee of the Armed Forces Covenant, a testament to our commitment to ensuring that those who serve, have served, and their families are treated with the respect, support, and fairness they deserve.

“By signing this covenant, we acknowledged the immense sacrifices and contributions made by our armed forces community and pledged to support them in every possible way.

“As we celebrate Armed Forces Week, we encourage everyone to explore the content and join us in recognising the immense contributions and sacrifices of our armed forces community.”
