Wade Lyn, owner of Cleone Foods and creator of the Island Delight Jamaican patty brand, is the latest episode of CEO Stories, the podcast from Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.

The episode is available to listen to on all major listening apps such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Wade gave supermarket bosses food for thought by introducing them to the Jamaican patty.

The Jamaican-born entrepreneur owns Hockley-based Cleone Foods which produces Island Delight, the UK’s biggest selling Jamaican patty which is stocked on most major supermarkets.

Here, he talks to host Henrietta Brealey about his role in introducing the Caribbean culinary staple to a new audience.

Wade, a former High Sheriff of the West Midlands, also reveals how his approach to business was influenced by his entrepreneurial parents and his athletics career, where he had the opportunity to observe track and field stars such as Steve Cram and Steve Ovett up close.

CEO Stories is a monthly podcast hosted by Henrietta Brealey, who in 2021 became the youngest chief executive in the Chamber’s history.

A new episode is published on the first Monday of every month.

Throughout the series, Henrietta is joined by a variety of well-known and emerging business leaders, who will reveal what makes them tick, who inspired them and the advice they would give to aspiring CEOs.

Seasons one and two of the podcast featured a variety of guests include former NEC Group chief executive Paul Thandi, McDonald’s franchisee Doug Wright, TV chef Liam Dillon, Birmingham Royal Ballet boss Caroline Miller and Chamber presidents past and present, Deb Leary and Nasir Awan.
