High Sheriff of the West Midlands Doug Wright hosted a multi-faith carol service – bringing members of the community together for a celebration of unity.

The uplifting event at Holy Trinity Parish Church in Sutton Coldfield featured performances from the choirs of St. Mary’s Handsworth, Pelsall Ladies Choir and the Holy Trinity Choir.

Local dignitaries including the Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands Derrick Anderson were in attendance, along with representatives from 52 charities and organisations across the region.

The service also incorporated the High Sheriff Awards, recognising the outstanding contributions of local individuals and organisations.

And funds were raised for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Christmas Appeal.

Mr Wright said: “As High Sheriff of the West Midlands, I had the distinct honour of hosting a Multi-Faith Thank You Carol Service that brought our community together in celebration and unity.

“The incorporation of the High Sheriff Awards made the evening even more special allowing us to recognise the outstanding contributions of local individuals and organisations.

“A highlight of the evening was hearing the multi-faith commitments shared by various faith representatives across the West Midlands.

“Their messages of hope and unity reminded us of the strength that comes from our diverse community.

“A huge well done to all the recipients of the High Sheriff Awards! Your dedication and hard work make a significant difference in our community, and it was a privilege to celebrate your achievements."

“A heartfelt thank you to the Priest-in-charge and my High Sheriff Chaplain for their unwavering support and wonderful delivery of this special service.”
