The Lapal Canal Trust hosted 12 volunteers from the Waterway Recovery Group (WRG) who took on the task of starting work on an Accessibility path linking the tow-path to the bridge built in 1797 over the canal.

When the canal is restored the bridge will be a turnover bridge linking the tow path to the Park. It's planned that the WRG will return to complete the lower ramp, the main task of building the upper ramp and platform has been completed.

A work camp is a significant operation with a lot of careful planning before starting while method sheets and risk assessment forms have to be prepared. The trust has extended a special thanks to David Evans for his organisation and project management, who was helped by Paul Harrowsmith.

The trust also thanked the Inland Waterways Association and their volunteers who was helped during the week by Peter Fisher, technical officer of the Lapal Canal Trust.

During the week, the Lapal Trust issued daily progress reports on Facebook generating a lot of interest and supportive comments, reaching over 16,000 a day, thanks to everyone who shared.
