Pupils at Landau Forte Academy Amington will test their business credentials during a three-day Dragons Den-style event.

And Lichfield & Tamworth Chamber of Commerce members are being encouraged to volunteer their time to coach the pupils before judging the winners.

The Year 11 pupils are studying for their Cambridge National Certificate in Enterprise and Marketing.

As part of the assessment, they need to market and pitch a business proposal including a 15-minute presentation to three local business representatives.

The school 's operations manager Alex Reynolds said “The three days of activity with local businesses is an ideal way for our pupils to gain an understanding of sales and marketing with the chance to impress senior leaders and get a feel for what it is like to work in business.

“They are extremely exciting to share their proposals, learn from the representatives and ultimately find out which project is the moist investable.

“Landau Forte has a longstanding history of working with a range of organisations across Tamworth to share expertise with their pupils and we look forward to receiving some much needed and important support from local businesses. ”

Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber president, Fiona Rouse, said: 'We count Sarah Findlay-Cobb, chief executive of Landau Forte Academy Trust, as one of our committee members and we 're looking forward to helping to support the week of engagement in the Tamworth area.

“Our division director, Chris Brewerton will be taking part and we hope to encourage further businesses to volunteer their time either with Landau Forte or indeed any of their local schools organisations through 2023 and beyond. ”

The project will run from Monday 20 to Wednesday 22 March, with representatives from business asked to choose one day out of the three to work with the pupils.
