Business community called upon to explore Staffordshire-wide volunteering opportunities
A cross section of over 40 local charitable and volunteering organisations are being hosted at Lichfield Cathedral on Wednesday 16 January for a quarterly fair aimed at promoting opportunities for the community to give up their time to support a local good cause.
Chamber members including the National Arboretum, The Hub at St. Marys, Lichfield Festival and Newlife will be exhibiting and networking in the inspiring surroundings of the cathedral nave from 2pm to 4pm on Tuesday 16 January alongside tens of other organisations.
Rick Hill, volunteer officer for Support Staffordshire said: “This event is a fantastic way for the wider community, both residents and busineses across Lichfield, to meet and engage with a range of organisations who rely on the support of volunteers to carry out their important and often under the radar work throughout the year.
“To be able to host this series of events in such a grand setting thanks to the generosity of Lichfield Cathedral is hugely appreciated by all involved.”
Sharon McCormick, clinical director of Lichfield based Employee Assistance Provider, The Listening Centre, who also sits on the executive committee of the Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber of Commerce, volunteers herself for the NSPCC, will be on their stand at the event and has spoken of the positives she has found in supporting local community organisations.
She said: “Volunteering my time for important local and national causes alongside working in business has helped keep me grounded and understand the challenges other members of the community face in their lives.
“It is a hugely rewarding way of spending your time and I’d very much recommend other businesses and their employees to attend and understand who they can help across Staffordshire in 2024.”
Attendance at the event is free of charge with teas and coffees on offer, doors open at 2pm and all are welcome.
