Businesses from Burton recently held a charity cricket day in aid of the Burton YMCA at Dunstall Cricket Club.

The event raised over  £1500 for the charity.

Businesses that participated included Else Solicitors, Ginho Europe, National Forest Adventure Farm, LCS Containers, Pattrn Data and Abode Estate Agents.

The day was a great success and much needed funds were raised for the charity who now see an unprecedented need for the services they offer, in particular the Food Bank.

The winning team included players from Else Solicitors and Ginho Europe.

Speaking about the day, Chris Else, managing partner at Else Solicitors, said: “YMCA Burton helps so many individuals and families across the East Staffordshire area.

“Their housing sites help homeless people get back on their feet, improve their wellbeing and to move on to permanent housing.

“Their foodbank helps anyone who is suffering from food poverty, as well many other services. I believe the best way to raise funds for charity is to engage with businesses and have an enjoyable day out and the cricket event provided just that!

Paula Senior, fundraising and partnerships manager at YMCA Burton, added: “We are thrilled to hear the Else Solicitors cricket event raised over £1500 for YMCA Burton.

“We loved being part of such a great day; the sun was shining and the teams played some great games.

“We want to thank Charlotte and Chris at Else Solicitors for organising a fun event, Dunstall cricket club for hosting and their generosity, VIN-X, the raffle sponsors and to the teams who played – which was made up of local businesses.

“You have all contributed to changing lives and helping those in need in our local area.”

Shaun Gray, European managing director at Ginho Europe said: “A brilliant day, such fun and inclusivity for all levels of cricket ability even first time German players!

“The venue, games and food were all excellent, a great team building and networking event and all while raising money for the local YMCA, Ginho will be back to defend our tile along with the guys from Else”

YMCA Burton is also organising a Golf Dat on 23 July at Branston Golf & Country Club. Click here for more information.
