A jobs fair with a difference is being held in Birmingham to help organisations looking to build more diverse and inclusive workforces.

National disability charity Sense is inviting firms to support the Pan Disability Job Fair on the 16 May —a pioneering event designed to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers with disabilities.

Sense said: “With over 16.1 million disabled people in the UK, there is a huge untapped talent pool waiting for the right opportunities. Sense is committed to breaking down barriers and ensuring no one is left out of life.

The Sense Pan Disability Job Fair is more than just a recruitment event; it's a commitment to inclusive employment.”

The charity says by participating, organisations will:

• Access a diverse talent pool of individuals with a range of skills and experiences.

• Demonstrate corporate social responsibility by actively promoting workplace inclusion.

• Enhance company culture by fostering an environment where everyone, regardless of ability, has an opportunity to thrive.

• Gain expert insights on accessible recruitment practices and inclusive workplace adaptations.

The jobs fair takes place at Sense Touchbase Pears, Selly Oak, Birmingham on Friday 16th May, from 10 am to 3pm.

The fair brings together job seekers with disabilities, employers from various industries, and organisations that champion accessibility and inclusion.

Attendees will include individuals with sensory impairments, learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs, along with employers committed to creating more inclusive workspaces and support organisations and disability employment specialists.

By taking part in this event, organisations will be actively contributing to a more accessible and equitable job market.

Legrand Electronics, a Birmingham-based electronics manufacturer, said: “It exceeded my expectations. We left the fair with more contacts than expected and we learnt a lot through conversations with job seekers and other visiting companies and stallholders.”
