Trent & Dove's Warm Spaces Cafés in Winshill and Stapenhill received a festive surprise as eight players from Burton Albion’s (men’s and women’s) first team squad visited to spread some holiday cheer.

As part of Burton Albion Community Trust’s initiatives, the players stopped by the cafes at Hawfield Lane, Winshill, and Short Street, Stapenhill, bearing early Christmas presents for supper club attendees. The players distributed gift boxes filled with delicious food treats, including McVitie’s digestive biscuits, which delighted attendees could take home.

The visit wasn’t just about gifts. The players spent time chatting with customers, sharing stories, and even lending a hand in preparing the cafes’ delicious meals.

Rachael Hughes, head of Customer and Communities at Trent & Dove, said: “We were delighted to welcome Burton Albion’s first team players to our Warm Spaces Cafés. Their visit brought so much joy to our customers and showcased the spirit of community and giving. Initiatives like this highlight how partnerships can make a real difference, especially during the festive season.”

John Widdowson, representing Burton Albion Community Trust, added: “At Burton Albion, we believe in using football as a force for good, and visiting the Warm Spaces Cafés was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces and the warm welcome we received was fantastic. We’re proud to support Trent & Dove and their incredible work.”

Trent & Dove Housing’s Warm Spaces Cafés continue to offer welcoming environments where people can come together and enjoy low-cost healthy food in warm surroundings.
