Bournville employees donate over 1,000 meals to local foodbank
Bournville-based employees at Mondelēz International have donated 1,045 meals to B30 Foodbank ahead of Christmas to support families in need.
A team of four volunteers at Mondelēz International arranged six drop off locations around the global snack provider’s Bournville offices and manufacturing site, inviting colleagues to donate tinned food, pasta sauces, long-life milk, cereal and porridge, as well as everyday toiletries.
Since 2022, Mondelēz International employees in People Services have supported B30 Foodbank to prepare for a busy festive season, when the demand for emergency food and supplies increases. In its first year, the team collected 500 meals and last year, 900 meals were collected across the Bournville site.
This year, the local team reached their milestone of a total of 1,000 meals donated to the food bank in the run-up to Christmas.
B30 Foodbank supports vulnerable people within the community by providing nutritionally balanced emergency food.
In 2023 alone, 9,493 food supplies were given to people in crisis, including 4,958 for children. With one in five people in the UK living below the poverty line, food banks provide vital support to many families facing food insecurity.
Angela Lynch Harris, People Services Quality & Compliance lead at Mondelēz International, organised the initiative in aid of B30 Foodbank with support from three other volunteers.
She said: “We’re extremely proud to have supported B30 Foodbank with this initiative for the third consecutive year.
“Knowing that our contribution is directly helping people in our local community is incredibly rewarding and it’s been fantastic to see our colleagues come together to make this possible.”
