Birmingham has welcomed its first alcohol-free bar, located at 7 Suffolk Street Queensway, in the heart of the city centre.

The founders of Exhale Conscious Bar say the venue is designed to promote health, connection, and inclusion, addressing the growing loneliness felt by many across the UK.

The bar’s menu features nutrient-rich, plant-based drinks crafted to boost health and vitality. Its offerings include adaptogenic elixirs and mood-enhancing mocktails, blending science with nature to provide beverages that nourish both mind and body.

The launch coincides with a national shift in drinking habits, as 66 per cent of UK adults report actively reducing their alcohol consumption.

The alcohol-free market is expanding rapidly, driven by demand for healthier lifestyles without sacrificing social interaction.

In a statement, the bar’s founders said: “For many, the traditional bar environment can feel overwhelming or unwelcoming, especially for those choosing sobriety. We’ve created a space where everyone feels safe to be themselves.

“Whether you're here to meet friends, enjoy a quiet moment, or take part in one of our curated events—from mindfulness workshops to live acoustic music—our bar is designed for comfort and inclusion.

“By opening this space in Birmingham, we’re joining a global movement toward mindful drinking and intentional living. Our bar is more than just a venue; it’s a call to reimagine what it means to truly connect in today’s overwhelming digital world.”

As part of its launch, the bar will also host an exhibit at the Bullring Shopping Centre from January 20 to 26, showcasing exclusive alcohol-free beers and previewing upcoming events.
