Birmingham Hospice expands counselling service

Birmingham Hospice's team of expert counsellors is gearing up to share their expertise with an even wider audience following the launch of a new private counselling service.

They will continue to offer free bereavement counselling for anyone with a connection to the hospice, but to provide support to those who don’t qualify for free help, they will now also run adult and child therapy sessions starting from £60 or £75 for art therapy.

These can be delivered at their Selly Park or Erdington sites or via the internet and are designed to bridge the gap between potential long waiting lists for NHS treatment and expensive private providers.

The team can provide bereavement counselling, couples therapy, and general counselling. They can also offer clinical supervision for statutory and voluntary organisations.

Any profits from the service will be reinvested in the hospice, helping to ensure that it can continue to deliver its services.

Head of wellbeing Surjit Heer said: “This is all about helping people to help themselves – we give patients the tools they can use to help them get through difficult times in their lives.

“There’s great potential for the hospice to use our expertise to reach other people in the city who may not know where else to go to get the support they need.”

Don't hesitate to contact the Wellbeing Team on 0121 269 5000 to fill out the enquiry form on the website.
