Lee Hollington, head chef at B:Eats Café at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, joined The Hairy Bikers in this year’s Christmas special episode, Coming Home For Christmas.

After a near two-year break, The Hairy Bikers returned to TV with a Christmas special.

With bikes in tow, the episode saw the duo go in search of the best seasonal ingredients for a festive banquet, to thank all those who have supported Dave through his cancer diagnosis.

From all the care workers who have helped with Dave’s treatments, to the producers who have reignited his love for food, the episode followed their journey and preparations for the Coming Home for Christmas banquet.

Along with discovering local delicacies, creating a traditional roast centerpiece and a pudding that defies expectation, viewers enjoyed watching Lee Hollington teach Dave and Si how to make his famous Brummie Bacon Cake in the B:Eats kitchen.

The Brummie Bacon Cake also featured in the Christmas banquet feast.

Lee said: “It was an absolute pleasure to show Dave and Si around B:Eats and share my grandad's Brummie Bacon Cake recipe in the kitchen.

“They were a joy to work with and it was an honour to be asked to be part of such a momentous episode.

“I hope everyone enjoyed watching the Christmas special just as much as I loved being part of it!”

Watch the episode on BBC iPlayer.
