The only residential Further Education college for adults in the West Midlands is on the lookout for a finance governor.

Fircroft College of Adult Education, funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority and based in Selly Oak, Birmingham, welcomes adults from local communities who may have experienced life-challenges and are now ready to progress in a positive direction, through education.

Previously the family home of George Cadbury Jnr, who founded the college, Fircroft stands in 6 acres of grounds and continues the Cadbury ethos of social justice and the belief in life-long learning for all.

The finance government is required to be highly proficient in the financial sector and possess good oral communication skills and the ability to think and plan strategically, monitor performance and outcomes, and interpret different forms of information, including reports and data.

The role will be unpaid, but the successful candidate will be a part of the learning community that gives people opportunities that have previously been out of reach to them.

Michael Conway-Jones, vice-principal, said: “This is a great time to join the governing body.

“We are a small college with big ambitions, particularly in the areas of sustainability, digital and mental health and we can see from the students and our environment, the really positive impact that every single person working with the college, makes.

“We look forward to receiving your application.”
