People working in the fields of hospitality, risk management and health are encouraged to become a trustee for the Midlands Arts Centre (MAC).

First opened in 1962, MAC is a pioneering arts centre and charity, with a mission to make art an important part of people’s lives.

Set in the surroundings of Cannon Hill Park, MAC specialises in contemporary work, providing arts opportunities for all.

MAC makes 82 per cent of its c.£5m turnover. The remaining 18 per cent of their income is made up of grants and donations from major stakeholders including Arts Council England, People’s Postcode Lottery Culture Trust, and Youth Music.

The centre is committed to expanding the diversity of the Board and are taking an inclusive approach to recruitment. They are keen to receive applications from groups who are currently underrepresented across the arts sector, including members of the global majority, d/deaf and disabled applicants and individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

Successful candidates will champion and embrace MAC’s broad creative identity and the venue is committed to meeting any access support needs one might have including reasonable access support costs relating to care, travel expenses and translation or interpretation services.

Speaking about the role, MAC’s director of governance & HR Holly Mulhern said: “We’re excited to be recruiting for a new Trustee at MAC.

“You will be an effective and influential ambassador for MAC. Ideally, we are looking for someone with financial or commercial experience who cares passionately about Birmingham and its communities as much as we do and has an interest in supporting a successful arts charity.

“Previous experience of board membership is not essential as training will be provided. Please contact us for a conversation”

For more information, including knowledge about the role and access support to make an application, contact Holly at personnel@macbirmingham.co.uk

To register your interest in becoming a MAC Trustee, send in a CV and a letter of no more than two pages outlining the skills you offer and reason for applying to personnel@macbirmingham.co.uk.

MAC also welcomes alternative methods of applications such as video, audio or creative expressions of interest.

The closing date for applications is Monday 21 October. The shortlisted candidates will be informed by Friday, 25 October while interviews will take place on Thursday, 7 November.
