Audiologist launches video series to help people overcome hearing challenges
Lichfield-based Cathedral Hearing has launched a special video series to help people with their hearing.
Principal audiologist Laura Evans interviewed multiple patients to find out what the challenges are for people when they feel their hearing isn’t what they think it should be.
The series has been launched with three patients telling their stories - the hearing difficulties in their lives, their hesitancy to get tested and how their lives have changed after treatment.
Laura said: “Taking good care of your hearing health can greatly improve your quality of life but it is common for people to put off coming for a hearing check due to misconceptions and mystery surrounding the process.
“The truth is, going for a hearing check is as simple and easy as getting your eyes tested.
“Subtle changes in hearing can occur gradually over time and regular testing is important to pick these up so that they can be monitored.”
Ex-policeman Mike Sabin from Tamworth appeared in one video.
He said: “Having my hearing tested and now using a hearing aid has greatly improved my quality of life.
“I was hesitant to be tested, looking back now, I really don’t know why.
“I hope by telling my story in a video I will encourage others to seek help and advice.”
Laura hopes the videos will make a difference to many people, saying: “I want to break down the barriers to having your hearing tested and it was wonderful and inspiring to hear patients share their stories.
“I hope it will help to reassure and empower others to take control of their ear health.”
