easyJet and UNICEF are launching their winter onboard collection as part of their ‘Every Child Can Fly’ campaign, to support UNICEF’s work to tackle the global learning crisis.

Nearly nine-million customers set to fly with easyJet this winter will have the opportunity to donate through Cabin Crew collections, onboard more than 72,000 flights across 32 countries.

This latest six-week onboard collection marks the 50th in support of UNICEF since the partnership began in 2012.

Since then, easyJet customers and crew have raised over £17 million towards UNICEF’s life-changing work, which has helped to protect millions of children around the world from disease, kept them safe during emergencies and supported access to quality education.

Launched earlier this year, easyJet and UNICEF’s ‘Every Child Can Fly’ campaign aims to support children and adolescents to shape their future, by contributing to UNICEF's target of providing access to learning opportunities for 114 million children and digital education for 148.6 million children around the world by the end of 2025.

Globally, seven out of ten 10-year-olds around the world cannot read simple text or do basic mathematics.

While significant progress was made in increasing access to inclusive and quality education, there is still a need for 1.4 million children to be enrolled in early childhood education every year and 44 million teachers to achieve SDG4* for education.

This includes children like Khadija in Afghanistan who attends school thanks to the community-based classroom established by UNICEF in her village in Daikundi.

She said: “If my classmates don’t understand the lesson, I will help them” and added “And I will read the lessons to them again.”

Michael Brown, easyJet’s director of Cabin Services, said: “It is a privilege to be launching our 50th onboard collection for UNICEF this winter as part of our ‘Every Child Can Fly’ campaign, to support UNICEF’s aspiration to achieve every child’s universal right to learn by 2030.

“Since our partnership launched over a decade ago, we are incredibly grateful to our customers for their kindness and generosity in helping to raise over £17 million to support UNICEF’s work – and of course our fantastic crew who make these collections possible.

“We cannot thank them enough for all that they do to help change the lives of countless children across the world.”

Mohini Raichura-Brown, UNICEF's chief partnerships officer said: “This winter, we are proud to be launching our 50th collection with easyJet.

“The contribution of easyJet crew and customers has already helped UNICEF reach more than 169 million children to support with building a brighter future.

“This collection builds on more than £3 million easyJet contributed over the years, towards UNICEF’s education programmes to help provide every child with an opportunity to access quality and inclusive learning.

“This included providing educational materials such as textbooks and classroom kits to children, so they are able to keep learning, even during an emergency.”
