Accessible vehicle club launched for disabled motorists
Recognising the changing financial climate, an adaptive vehicle hiring firm has launched the Accessible Vehicle Club (AVC), an innovative 12-month subscription service.
The AVC is the brainchild of Mobility Vehicle Hire Ltd (MVH), trading as Specialist Vehicle Rental (SVR), a leader in the adapted vehicle self-drive hire and leasing industry for nearly 15 years.
AVC offers flexibility for disabled motorists, allowing them to choose from four different plans to suit their budget. Subscribers gain access to MVH’s entire fleet without the burden of ownership. With no deposits, insurance, and maintenance included, customers can select the perfect vehicle for their needs, from a hatchback for city use to a minibus for holidays.
Beginning with just a couple of hand-controlled cars, MVH now operates a fleet of over 350 vehicles, including hatchbacks, MPVs, minibuses, and fully electric models.
These vehicles are adapted for a range of needs, from infra-red hand controls to Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs), ensuring accessibility for drivers and passengers with disabilities. The fleet also includes dual-control vehicles, designed to accommodate both able-bodied and disabled learner drivers.
The business was founded by Juggy Kudhail (pictured), inspired by a friend’s difficulty in sourcing a suitable vehicle for his disabled daughter.
After witnessing the poor service and limited availability in the market, Juggy set out to provide a superior, more accessible car hire solution.
Today, MVH offers a tailored hire service with an expert team who assists customers with all the information they need to instil confidence before taking out a vehicle.
MVH’s evolution has established the company as a specialist provider, catering to both individual (B2C) and business (B2B) clients.
Its niche expertise and customer-first approach have earned it a reputation for excellence, as reflected in its approval as a supplier for The Crown Commercial Service and its participation in the Parliamentary Review for Best Business Practice.
MVH also supports several national charities, including Phab, DMUK, and QEF, and works closely with accident management firms, injury law companies, brokerages, and rental services. A highlight of the company’s work was being the sole provider of adapted vehicles for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
As MVH continues to grow, its mission remains the same: promoting inclusion and equality in mobility for the disabled community. The SME award for best wheelchair accessible and adapted supplier of the year is displayed proudly in our main branch’s office.
Juggy Kudhail said: "As I reflect on the past 15 years, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come from our humble beginnings with just one staff member and five vehicles.
“Today, we’ve grown into a dedicated team of 14 with over 20 drivers, serving both corporate and retail clients, including prestigious contracts like the Commonwealth Games.
“Our recent recognition as the 'Best Wheelchair Accessible and Adapted Vehicle Supplier 2024' by the SME Awards is a true testament to our commitment to supporting people’s independence through adapted mobility.
“With continued reinvestment in our fleet and expansion into Scotland, we’re excited to help even more individuals across the UK. Thank you to our customers and the SVR team for making this journey possible."
