Summit Learning Trust has announced that they have been shortlisted for two ‘National MAT Awards.’

The National MAT Awards 2025, hosted by the Multi Academy Trust Association (MATA), occur bi-annually in Milton Keynes and London when they present awards for outstanding achievement and the great work multi academy trusts do.

Summit has been shortlisted for the Medium Size MAT of the Year Award, for MATs with between six and fourteen schools and also the MAT Leadership Team of the Year Award, which recognises outstanding achievement and overcoming adversity.

The knowledgeable central team at Summit provide comprehensive support and services to schools and colleges, allowing staff members and leaders to focus on school life.  At Summit they believe that when schools and colleges collaborate, incredible things happen, and this is a golden thread that runs through their structure.  Success is determined and achieved via their highly effective and efficient central structures, processes, quality assurance, culture, leadership and effective governance.

The trust comprises of three secondary schools, five primary schools and a sixth form college educating over 8000 learners.  All the schools are based in the Birmingham and Solihull area, which allows the trust to work closely together for the benefit of all local children, young people and the community.

Last year, the trust took home the Community Impact Award for their Base Camp initiative, which is an initiative designed to support their most vulnerable children, young people, and families through the current cost of living crisis and beyond.  The Summit Base Camp initiative offers free support to ensure that every child and young person has the following basic needs met to enable them to achieve the highest levels of academic progress, whilst being provided with a rich educational experience.

Vince Green, CEO of Summit Learning Trust said: "We are incredibly proud to be shortlisted for two awards at the National MAT Awards 2025. This recognition highlights the dedication and hard work of our entire Summit Learning Trust family, from our outstanding leadership team to our highly talented staff members working across our schools and college.

“Being nominated for the MAT of the Year and MAT Leadership Team of the Year Awards is testament to the commitment we have shown to delivering high-quality education and care.  This recognition further motivates us to continue striving for excellence in everything we do for our learners, their families and the communities that we serve.”

Matt McDermott, founder of MATA, who host the awards said: “A huge congratulations to Summit Learning Trust on being shortlisted for 2 categories, it's a huge achievement for the Trust given the level of competition and entries we received this year – a record number of Trusts in our 3 years. Having walked away with the Community Impact Award last year, we wish the team the best of luck on 6th March!”
