Academy takes part in Formula 1 enrichment programme
WMG Academy for Young Engineers in Solihull have praised their team’s dedication and ingenuity as they work tirelessly to design and build a competitive racing car, refine their engineering expertise, and ignite a passion for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) among their peers.
WMG Academy are taking part in F1 in Schools, which is an esteemed global educational programme that inspires students to explore engineering, design, and teamwork through the exciting context of Formula 1 racing.
WMG Academy take great pride in supporting their students throughout their journey, ensuring they are equipped for success at the regional finals and beyond. Through initiatives like this, they are strengthening vital industry links, providing their students with unique opportunities to connect with professionals, and fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration.
To fund their project, their teams have shown remarkable initiative and creativity by securing sponsorships and organising fundraising events such as bake sales, selling branded merchandise, and running crowdfunding campaigns.
One of our team's efforts has been rewarded with a £500 sponsorship from National Grid, a partnership that has greatly bolstered their journey. Nicholas South from National Grid was impressed by the students’ proposal and enthusiasm, choosing to support them in exchange for having their logo displayed on their car and team uniforms.
As part of this partnership, the academy welcomed Nicholas from National Grid to their school, where the team delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing every aspect of the project, from the intricacies of car design to the excitement of race day.
The collaboration not only showcases the students’ talent and professionalism but also underscores WMG Academy’s commitment to preparing their students for future success while building strong connections with industry leaders.
