Academy celebrates outstanding GCSE results

WMG Academy Solihull are celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results for all students in Year 11.

WMG Academy chief executive, Stewart Tait, commented, “We are delighted that we are once again seeing great achievement across the ability range of students at WMG Academy Solihull with some fantastic individual stand out performances. I know that our students will go on to a wide range of exciting destinations and careers with their impressive learning and business behaviours standing them in good stead. I personally congratulate the students and thank parents and carers for their patience and support as well as the staff for their unwavering commitment and dedication.”

● Asim Ahmed, 9 excellent qualifications which included a Grade 9 in Maths and Physics, a Grade 8 in Chemistry and Electronics and two Distinctions in Engineering Design and Engineering Manufacture

● Aiva Dovaston, 9 excellent qualifications which included Grade 8s in English Literature, English Language and Art and Design and a Distinction in Engineering Manufacture

● Faizan Choudry, 9 excellent qualifications which included a Grade 9 in Mathematics, Physics and Biology and a Grade 8 in Chemistry

● Holly Hampton, 9 excellent qualifications which included a Grade 9 in Mathematics, Grade 8 in Chemistry and Biology and a Distinction in Engineering Manufacture

● Jumaa Chimbongwe, 9 excellent qualifications which included a Grade 8 in Mathematics, Grade 7 in Physics, English Literature and Language, Chemistry and Biology and a Merit in Engineering Manufacture

● DeAngelo Campbell, 9 excellent qualifications including Grade 7s in Mathematics and Physics and two Distinctions in Engineering Design and Engineering Manufacture

● Millee Sondh, 9 excellent qualifications including a Grade 7 in Mathematics, 7 GCSE’s at Grade 6+, a Distinction in Engineering Design and a Merit in Engineering Manufacture

● Grace Palmer, 9 excellent qualifications including 7 GCSE’s at Grade 5 + and in addition, a Distinction* in Engineering Manufacture and a Distinction in Engineering Design

● Kieon Shaw, 9 excellent qualifications which included a Grade 8 in Physics and Grade 7s in both Maths and English

● Zayd Shaikh, 9 excellent qualifications that included a Grade 8 in Biology, Grade 7s in Physics, Electronics and Mathematics and in addition, a Merit in Engineering Manufacture

 

Further highlights are this year’s apprenticeship destinations, some of which include:

● Jack Connolly securing an Apprenticeship at Cosy Heating and Plumbing

● Ethan Cunningham securing an Apprenticeship at Moose Construction

● Oliver Price securing an Apprenticeship at Sertec as a Process Engineer

● Matthew Roche and Kayleigh Burrowes securing an Apprenticeship at Whale Tanker in welding

NB: D and D* grades refer to Distinction and Distinction* grades available on Engineering and Science BTEC qualifications. D* is equivalent to A* and D is equivalent to A.
