Abseil supported by Birmingham firms raises over £26,000
An abseil off one of Birmingham 's tallest residential buildings has raised over £26,000 for local bereavement charity Edward 's Trust.
Nearly 70 abseilers braved the 100-metre descent down the 33 storey Bank Tower 2 in Sheepcote Street in the city centre.
The event was organised by Birmingham-based property consultants KWB and several of the abseilers were from local businesses, including Our Training Department, Harworth Group, JM Glendinning, The Binding Site, Nant Limited, Halesowen BID, Beam and WS Gardens.
Every penny of the £26,349 has gone to Edward 's Trust which relies on donations to fund its work with children, young people and families facing loss and surviving bereavement.

Joanne Spencer, office manager at KWB said: “We 're overwhelmed by the amount of money raised through sponsorship and donations. People and businesses have been so generous and there was an incredible atmosphere on the day. Edward 's Trust does vital work which helps so many people across Birmingham, including some of our own colleagues. ”
Helen Tomblin, communications and marketing manager at Edward 's Trust, added: “As one of the abseilers I can say it was a nerve-wracking but brilliant experience, with incredible views of the city!
“We 're so grateful to KWB for organising this event and urge more companies to offer corporate support. We are a small team and need help to organise big fundraising events like this, which are fun and great for team building. ”
The abseil was run by Dolomite Training. KWB are the property managers for The Bank, acting on behalf of leaseholder Regal Property Group.
