Branding project gives sixth form centre the edge
University College Birmingham has chosen Sutton Coldfield-based marketing agency EDGE Creative to create the brand for its new Sixth Form Centre.
The new branding represents the concept of a 'junior university' environment to help sixth form students better prepare for university life.
The site is based at Camden House near Summer Row in Birmingham city centre and is due to open in September 2024, providing Birmingham's 16-year-olds with a pathway into higher education in an inclusive university environment.
EDGE Creative has developed a brand for the new centre, aligned with that of University College Birmingham, which has been carried across the website, prospectus, and other marketing materials such as digital static and outdoor media adverts.
EDGE Creative director and founder Louise Pinnington (pictured) said: “University College Birmingham is a long-standing client of ours - we have worked with them for more than eight years on a range of exciting projects. We were delighted to be able to pitch for the new sixth form centre brand and get our teeth into an exciting new brand concept, which is where our strengths and passion lie.
“The project involved the creation of different graphic design concepts to work across various media, as test concepts, and then development of the final agreed designs. We're proud of what we have created and, most importantly, University College Birmingham is a happy client.”
Alma Aganovic, marketing and admissions director said: “We are truly thrilled with the brand concepts EDGE has developed for us.
“Their creative flair and deep understanding of our brand, requirements and aims has led to the creation of something we're excited to showcase.
“We feel it will be instrumental in our goals to attract students in schools with no sixth form provision, and to make our nationally-recognised student care and support available to a wider range of students.
“We can help them prepare for university at a university, which is significantly valuable when students come to make what can be a major transition.
“EDGE have been very easy to work with, very flexible and accommodating, which is an essential quality in an agency when you're working on a new project.”
The multi-million-pound development will offer a range of A-level and vocational courses, with sixth formers having access to numerous university facilities including hi-tech labs and simulation health wards.
University College Birmingham boasts world-class facilities and many of its courses are accredited by the University of Warwick - ranked eighth in the UK in The Guardian's league table.
