Nine new deputy lieutenants appointed in West Midlands
The Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Sir John Crabtree, has announced the appointment of nine new Deputy Lieutenants for the West Midlands.
The backgrounds of the new DLs range from sport and social history, to health, business and tackling accessibility and inclusion.
The new appointments bring the total of Deputy Lieutenants in the West Midlands to 68.
The appointments are as follows:
- Derrick Anderson CBE, local government expert, Wolverhampton
- Professor Carl Chinn MBE, social historian, Birmingham
- Major General Timothy Hodgetts CBE KHS, Honorary Surgeon to HM the King, Birmingham
- Dr Lucy Martin, medical director and clinical lead in end of live care, Dudley
- David Moorcroft OBE, sports consultant, Coventry
- Sarah Rennie, accessibility and inclusion consultant, Birmingham
- Amrick Singh Ubhi, civic engagement and partnerships to reach disadvantaged groups, Birmingham
- Sandra Wallace CBE, law and social mobility champion, Birmingham
- Carmen Watson, recruitment consultant specialising in equality, diversity and inclusion, Solihull
The new appointees will support the Lord-Lieutenant - His Majesty 's personal representative in the West Midlands - in several ways including attending on Royalty during official visits to the county, representation at citizenship ceremonies, supporting the armed forces of the Crown particularly the reserve and cadet forces, encouraging charitable and voluntary work and local initiatives to benefit the community, as well as promoting and encouraging nominations for Honours and the King 's Awards for the County of the West Midlands.
