School achieves national careers award

Ninestiles, an academy which is part of the Summit Learning Trust, has been awarded the Quality in Careers Standard - a national award which recognises high quality careers programmes in education.

The award celebrates Ninestiles for the breadth of its Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), and has been awarded a plaque for fully meeting the award benchmarks and additional career-related learning outcomes for students.

The Standard complies with the Department of Education (DfE) 's Statuary Guidance for schools and is endorsed by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation 's 'Good Careers Guidance ' report '.

Ninestiles delivers a comprehensible programme of CEIAG, including careers education, impartial careers guidance and a range of work-related learning activities and events. Areas of good practice within Ninestiles ' CEIAG programme include:

• A whole school approach to CEIAG
• An 'in-house' Careers Fair offering meaningful encounters for all students.
• An extensive network of KS5 links made with Post 16 providers, local community organisations, apprenticeship, training and volunteering providers to prepare students for their next steps after leaving school.
• Effective delivery of career events, STEM workshops and alumni talks in all areas of the curriculum.

Ninestiles are full holders of the Quality in Careers Standard until 2025.

Zara Ali, assistant principal at Ninestiles, said: “It is really great to see staff collectively seeking out opportunities to enhance our career 's programme through networking and external visits. It is never too early to talk careers! ”

Ahmed, Year 7 student at Ninestiles, said: “I attended the Careers Fair and there were so many good choices for who to speak to about future careers and courses. I did a quiz which was fun and spoke to different people from colleges and universities ”.

Alex Hughes, principal at Ninestiles, said: “We 're so proud and grateful to be recognised for our careers opportunities and programme at Ninestiles. Our staff and Careers and Leadership Team work hard to ensure all students can thrive and go out into the world equipped with the right tools to succeed. ”
