Join a talented pool of individuals striving to support a thriving business community.  We are on the lookout for a Senior Policy Advisor to join us at the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. This is a permanent position.

As a Senior Policy Advisor at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, you will be responsible for supporting the Head of Policy and Director of External Affairs in the delivery of policy and public affairs activity on the local and national economy and innovation, and contribute to identifying, securing and delivering income generating activity.

The role is crucial in leading activity to ensure Chamber members are kept informed of key policy and legislative changes that may impact them and advocating on behalf of members to shape stakeholder decision-making. This will include activity related to regional devolution across the West Midlands Combined Authority area and Staffordshire, as well as artificial intelligence and digitalisation. The Senior Policy Advisor will proactively build and develop stakeholder relationships with public sector organisations and patrons of the Chambers, and act as a spokesperson on behalf of the Chambers in stakeholder forums.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and will have proven experience in a policy or public affairs related role. You will need to have a practical, outcomes-focused approach to policy work and an ability to manage a varied workload, assimilating new policy areas quickly and effectively. You will be able to work independently and as part of a team with strong administrative and organisational competencies and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. A full UK driving licence is essential.
