Phase 2 of the Local Skills Improvement Plan

Join Burton & District, Cannock Chase, and Lichfield & Tamworth Chamber as we partner with Stoke and Staffordshire Skills Hub for Phase 2 of the Local Skills Improvement Plan.

The Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) for Staffordshire has now been published along with 38 regions across the country. This has been approved by the Secretary of State and outlines the key priorities identified to support employers locally overcome the skills shortages, and improve the training for employees development.

Phase 2 of the LSIP is to implement the Roadmap to Change, but also ensure employers agree with the findings and, where needed, expand with further skills gaps.

The LSIP roundtable discussions are bringing together businesses based in Staffordshire who currently have an apprentice(s) and want to be involved in improving the skills system and ensuring it meets the needs of your organisation. What to expect?

  • LSIP Overview - Action taking place to overcome primary issues.
    • Do you think this will overcome the issues? 
    • What further action can be done?
  • Funding - how colleges and training providers are able to support and adapt to meet the training needs of employers
    • How has your college/ITP contacted you for your involvement?
    • What changes in curriculum/delivery have been made to suit your business needs?
  • Identify - what are the issues you foresee over the next 3 years
    • What is currently being done to overcome this? 
    • Exploring how the LSIP will be able to support these needs. 

Arrival is 8.15am for a prompt 8.30am start. Tea and coffees and light refreshments will be provided.

The event is only open to companies who have a physical office based in the following postcode areas: WS7, WS11, WS12, WS13, WS14, WS15, B77, B78, B79, DE13, DE14, DE15, DE6, ST10, ST14, ST18

Companies must also either currently employ an apprentice or have employed one within the last 12 months.

The registration list will be checked to confirm businesses comply with the above terms and conditions.
