Background: What is CBAM?
On 1 October 2023, the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) began its transitional phase.
This is the EU’s key strategy to combat carbon leakage, which involves shifting production or supply chains to countries with less stringent environmental or climate regulations.
Starting in January 2026, the system will fully impose charges on goods from sources that do not adhere to equivalent climate standards.

There are multiple industries that will be affected by CBAM, and will need to understand the procedures involved and what it means for their business.
CBAM places a carbon tariff on carbon-intensive products such as steel, cement, and some electricity, that are imported to the European Union.

*Any cancellations must be confirmed via email to training@birmingham-chamber.com and must be given within 5 working days clear of the original event date. For any cancellations given less than 5 working days before the event, fees will not be refunded. This also counts for non-attendance. If the course is due to run again in the future, delegates can opt to transfer to the next available date. A £50 fee will still be issued to cover the costs already incurred.
*Please note, the aim is always to finish at the time provided above, but please allow extra time depending on how many delegates are on the course, as there may be more questions for the trainer to answer.
