This beginner’s course is designed to support anyone new to an export role, delivering clear and concise insights of the end-to-end export process.

If you are new to international trade, or are looking for some expert guidance to understand paperwork requirements and establish your processes, this session provides an excellent introduction.

Course content

As well as the practical session where attendees will learn how to correctly create a commercial invoice from a pre-defined set of documentation, topics will include learning about:

  • Export definition and the process flow
  • Questions to ask prior to sending goods overseas
  • Requesting a shipment quotation
  • Export documentation
  • Packing lists and labels
  • Creating an invoice correctly - what to include  
  • Booking and managing the shipment collection
  • Buyer / Customer communication
  • Proof of export / delivery
  • Terminology and the jargon explained
  • The importance of adhering to export procedures

No assessment will take place after this course, but delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.

Ts & Cs

*Any cancellations must be confirmed via email to training@birmingham-chamber.com and must be given within 5 working days clear of the original event date. For any cancellations given less than 5 working days before the event, fees will not be refunded. This also counts for non-attendance. If the course is due to run again in the future, delegates can opt to transfer to the next available date. A £50 fee will still be issued to cover the costs already incurred.
