Touchwood Solihull is hosting a variety of exciting events every weekend throughout October, completely free of charge, providing something for everyone through activities, games and even educational sessions.

The centre which was recently awarded ‘Excellence in Change & Sustainability’ at the Solihull Chamber of Commerce Awards, will keep guests entertained all month with free events from live music and wellness workshops to celebrations for Diwali and Halloween.

On Saturday 5 October, Touchwood will be spicing things up for guests with the marvellous Mariachi band, ‘Los Burritos’, performing a variety of popular songs throughout the day. Shoppers can embrace the Mexican fun with a trip to Latin American restaurant, Tio Latino, on Upper Jubilee Walk.

The following weekend, ‘Menopause Knowledge’ returns to Touchwood with a free event on Saturday 12 October offering education and resources during Menopause Awareness Month.

Back by popular demand, on Saturday 19 October the Touchwood Tornado Challenge will test the skills of visitors for the chance to win a gift card to spend in the shopping centre. The typhoon of fun will run throughout the day from 11am to 3pm, crowning a new winner every hour.

Touchwood will also be celebrating Diwali with ‘Art at the Heart’ on Saturday 26 October. Visitors can expect a jam-packed programme of events running throughout the day, kicking off at 1pm with an Elephants Parade taking place around the town centre, featuring Diwali rangoli, Dhol drums and Diya lighting to bring light, hope and joy to Solihull.

This will be followed by performances including traditional instruments, singing and classical Bollywood dance, workshops including dancing and lantern making, and a live DJ in Touchwood playing Bhangra beats and Bollywood tunes from 5.30pm onwards.

October’s events will culminate with a week of ghoulish activities for Halloween, during school half term from Monday 28 October to Sunday 3 November.

Touchwood’s popular Pumpkin House returns for more spook-tastic fun, with Prunella Pumpkin in residence to deliver lessons in the art of witchery, spooky school histories, hat and wand making, plus spells and potion making at her School of Wizardry. The event is free but booking in advance is recommended through Touchwood’s website to avoid disappointment.

Lucy Burnett, marketing manager at Touchwood, said: “October is set to be another busy month at Touchwood, following on from a successful September which saw us host our inaugural Mid-Autumn Festival to mark the Chinese harvest season.

“We look forward to continuing to grow our cultural celebrations with Diwali activities, as well as bringing back the hugely popular School of Wizardry for Halloween and our Touchwood Tornado Challenge. With a new, free event on every weekend, our guests will be spoilt for choice!”
